3 Tips to BOOST Your Confidence...NOW!
We have heard this saying over and over throughout our lives, and we know that confidence is important, but what does it really mean? A quick Google search defines confidence as “the feeling or belief that one can rely on someone or something; firm trust.”
We at Klassy Network believe that the “someone” the definition is talking about….. is YOU!
Yes, it’s easier than ever to get stuck viewing ourselves through a lens of comparison. With images, ideas, and information flooding our Instagram and Facebook feeds, and landing in our inboxes all day long, we can easily fall into the trap of comparing our lives, and even our progress, to others.
This constant comparison can wreak havoc on our confidence. If you can identify with this, we have 3 quick tips that will help you choose confidence over comparison and keep you focused on the only person that can help you realize your goals…..YOU!
#1 - Get a serious case of Tunnel Vision
If you want to boost your confidence, there’s nothing like small successes, true forward movement (no matter what you are doing), and action ( even if it’s messy action), to really change the game. Focusing on things that you know NEED to be done, or you really WANT to do, will make a huge difference in how you feel about yourself.
Do you ever notice how you feel about yourself when you are putting things off? Tunnel vision helps you focus on those things and GET THE DAMN THING DONE! Feels good just thinking about it, doesn’t it?
First things first though. For tunnel vision to work, you have to have “vision”. You have to know what you should be focusing on, working, on or towards. What can you focus on that will make the most impact? (Hint: One of those things should be YOU!)
Once you have your goals/focus, we suggest minimizing distractions. Distractions destroy tunnel vision. You may have to turn off notifications, airplane mode that phone, or schedule your time so that your typical distractions (you know what and who those are) do not stop you from what you are trying to get accomplished.
Getting things done will make you feel successful. You know you LOVE checking things off your list - this is a HUGE confidence booster!
#2 -Tie up Loose Ends
What do you have hanging out there undone? You know the things we are talking about. They may have nothing to do with your career, personal growth, or anything monumental, but they are things you have avoided for some reason.
Wrapping up loose ends on things that you have put off can give you a MAJOR energy boost and clear the way for getting TUNNEL VISION on the things that are going to move you forward and help you achieve your goals.
Identify your loose ends, what you have to do to tie them up, and get them DONE! You will be SO happy that you did….
Remember that definition of confidence? Relying on yourself (trust) to get things done will make you feel confident and in control.
#3 - Focus on YOU...now.
Do you make bargains with the future you? I will get my hair done, get a massage, take a day off once I lose 10 pounds, get to a stopping point at work, etc. etc.., or, I will get a few new pieces for my wardrobe once I…..(fill in the blank).
We have a way of putting ourselves last on our list on top of adding tons of conditions to taking care of ourselves. Why do we do that? We really should realize that the way we feel about in the moment will actually help us achieve those conditions we are putting on our rewards. A little confusing, isn’t it?
Let’s say you get your hair done before the 10 pounds are gone…..What if you feel good, put together, and confident right now? All of a sudden going to the gym isn’t avoided. I mean….your hair looks great! Bye bye pounds…….
Let’s breathe some new life into that old adage, “There’s no time like the present.”
Waiting for the right circumstances will ALWAYS keep you from achieving your goals….big or small. Waiting on taking care of yourself will ALWAYS mean you are not stepping into today with the best version of YOU!
